OAPCE Awards to watch “Top 5” volunteer leaders committed to Catholic Education across Ontario

Mississauga, ON— The Ontario Association of Parents in Catholic Education (OAPCE) proudly announces it’s “Top 5” volunteer awards for 2016-2017.  “There are so many positive leaders in our Catholic community, across the province, and we want to do our part and recognize the ‘Top 5’ for their ability to inspire, shine and enlighten the community and academic experiences for all”, said Maurizio Ruberto President, OAPCE.

This is the 78th year of OAPCE, created in 1939, the OAPCE Directors and Executive want to continue this tradition and recognize leaders who are helping shape the provincial conversation about publicly funded catholic education for the years to come.  “As we hoped when this recognition was established, many previous honourees are indeed continuing in their leadership positions to contribute to the community” said Annalisa Crudo-Perri, Vice President, OAPCE.

This years honourees will be recognized during the 2017 OAPCE Annual Conference, October 13th and 14th, 2017 Details and Registration information available on oapce.org

The OAPCE Conference is open to all members of the community and registration fees should be covered/reimbursed by school parent councils or regional Parent Involvement Committee (PIC’s) as the Conference is the largest Parent Engagement Conference for Catholic Education in the Province.

FACE OF MERCY AWARD: Recognizes a student in our schools who is a consistent sign of mercy in every aspect of school life.

FATHER MAZEROLLE AWARD: Presented to a religious or layperson that has substantially contributed to the Catholic School System in the community.

GLORYA NANNE AWARD: Presented to an individual who has substantially contributed in fostering a better understanding of Catholic Education in Ontario though the use of various forms of media.

MONSEIGNEUR HARRIGAN AWARD: Presented to a Priest, Bishop, Deacon, or School Chaplain who has substantially contributed to the Catholic School System in the community.

VOLUNTEER PARENT OF THE YEAR: Presented to a parent that goes above and beyond to support their child's school initiatives and activities.
